Therapy for Spiritual Trauma & Transition

Many of us grew up in fundamentalist or high-demand religious systems. This type of entrapping spirituality may be as American as Ma, baseball or apple pie. But it needn’t be the continuing story of your spirituality.

A lot of people ask, “What qualifies as religious trauma?” “Did I actually experience a traumatic religious experience, or am I being too sensitive?” If you are asking yourself this question, there is a good chance that you, in fact, have experienced religious trauma. Here’s why:

Many of these high-demand systems can only function if they convince us to second-guess our experience. From the sofa in my therapy room, I have heard how folks have been convinced their pain is or was of their own making. “If you loved God more, your life would be easier.”, “You know the pastor said this would happen if you didn’t listen?” or “If this was so awful, why didn’t you leave sooner?”

In our work together, we will find ways to recenter your life on your own voice. If you choose, we can discover new ways of engaging spirituality that are the right fit for you. And we can help get your life back on a track aligned with your intrinsic value and right to freedom.

Let me help you break free into a life fit for you.
